Project Description:
ClimateFair Monitor: Towards Climate-Neutral Buildings and Road Transport
The decarbonization of buildings and road transport (DBRT) is a key priority of the EU. The expansion of the Emissions Trading System (ETS2) and the Social Climate Fund (SCF) aims to support this goal. However, the social sensitivity of these mechanisms can be exploited by climate skeptics to undermine EU policies.
This project monitors the fairness, transparency, and efficiency of expenditures related to DBRT and SCF, raises public awareness, promotes stakeholder engagement, and supports better climate policy planning at both national and EU levels.
The project’s objective is to improve the quality and effectiveness of EU climate financial instruments, contributing to faster decarbonization and reducing support for programs inconsistent with the European Green Deal.
Key Project Activities:
- Building the capacity of civil society organizations to assess ETS2 and SCF
- Facilitating knowledge transfer about current and future plans related to ETS2 and SCF
- Preparing policy recommendations and examples of best practices
- Raising awareness among the public and stakeholders about the importance of ETS2 and SCF
The project supports effective decarbonization and promotes climate actions aligned with the European Green Deal.
